This may have been the first sf I ever read. I am certain few others have ever topped it. [Note this is a expanded rewrite of the original version entitled "Against the Fall of Night" ]Clarke forms a world in the very distant future whose inhabitants live for hundreds of years on a ravaged planet earth in the oasis of the city.5/5(5). In her book "The Friendly Stars," Martha Evans Martin wrote: "The loneliness of this star, added to the somber signs of approaching autumn and sometimes gives one a touch of melancholy.
This isn't a book for everyone. While it's not gross or disgusting, you won't want to read it while you're eating. And it does contain a few scenes that reminded me of a popular zombie movie. But if you're willing to look past this, AUTUMN: THE CITY is a fast and entertaining read. In Autumn: Purification, the heroes from the original Autumn novel and Autumn: The City work together to survive in this horrifying new world. Without ever using the ‘Z' word, the Autumn series offers a new perspective on the traditional zombie story. There's no flesh eating, no fast-moving corpses, no gore for gore's sake/5(47).
Autumn - The City is the follow up to the sensational zombie novel Autumn, promising the same power and subtle horror of the first. It takes a lot of guts to start a story again right from the beginning but told from a different perspective - a brave move that could have gone horribly wrong.5/5. The City and the Stars is a rewrite of Clarke's first novel, Against the Fall of Night. While the author assumed that the old version would be replaced by the new version and eventually go out of print, he was surprised to find that the older version was popular enough to stay in wide circulation.

In City in the Autumn Stars, Manfred von Bek escapes from revolutionary Paris, heading for home in Mirenburg, when he falls into the age-old von Bek family plot of serving, or not, Lucifer (those who've not read the series, their work even became part of the family moto: Do you the Devil's Work).or rather, their duty, I should say, to protect the holy grail from Satan/5.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars More of the Von Bek family adventures in THE CITY IN THE AUTUMN STARS, which isn’t as rollicking an adventure as THE WARHOUND AND THE WORLD’S PAIN (although there is a glorious set piece battle in an otherworldly tavern as warring factions attempt to seize the Grail), but more an examination of one.

In the first Autumn 4/5(11). Stars Like the first book in the series Autumn, this is a top notch zombie thriller that is a slight variation on the standard post apocalyptic story. Although this is the second book in the series, it plays out as an extension of the first more than it does as a standalone/5.

"Autumn: The City" is the second novel in David Moody's Autmun series, but calling in the "next" book would be a misnomer. In "Autumn", the story follows three survivors as they leave city, trying to find some place safe, where the possibility of running into the walking dead is very slim/5(11).
The City is billed as book two in the Autumn Series, but it runs concurrently with book one; technically you could read book two first. It is a must read for any post-apocalyptic fan/5(80). David Moody, Autumn: The City (Infected Books, ) David Moody's Autumn Quartet continues on with The City, a book that starts out concurrently to Autumn.
Don't expect to see your dysfunctional heroes from that book for a while, unfortunately; you've got a new crop of characters to think about here/5(69). In the second book in Moody’s Autumn series, a few dozen city dwellers try to survive after a mysterious plague wipes out almost everyone, then turns a third of the dead into shuffling zombies.
The first book in the series followed three survivors who fled the city to hole up in a farmhouse for a short time before it was overrun by the zombie.
The first book in The Autumn Series, Autumn in the City of Angels, is a fantastic start to a fantastic series. The writing is superb and draws the reader into the story from the get go.
The character development is perfect and allows the reader to develop a relationship with each character, whether it is a love or hate relationship.4/5.
